How much does a private health check cost at SABA?
Prices start at £500 for a 30-minute GP-led check with an extended blood panel.
SABA prices, October 2026. Some scans may be a separate visit.
If you have private medical insurance or a health plan through work, check whether your policy covers health checks before you book. Some employers also offer health checks as a staff benefit.
What does each package include?
Every package includes a consultation and examination with a GMC-registered GP, an extended blood panel and a written report. The extended blood panel checks your liver, kidneys, cholesterol, blood sugar (for diabetes), thyroid, iron and vitamin levels.
- Well Woman Essentials (£500): GP consultation and examination, extended blood panel, urine test, breast examination and advice, written report.

Which health check do I need?
Choose based on what you want to find out:
- A general baseline of your health: Well Woman or Well Man Essentials (£500).
- Over 50, or a family history of heart disease, diabetes or cancer: a Comprehensive package, which adds an ECG and screening tests.
- Mainly worried about cancer: the Cancer Check (£1,000).
- Weight is your main concern: Weight Management (£500).
For most adults, SABA's GPs suggest a check every one to two years, or yearly if you're over 50 or have a family history of heart disease, diabetes or cancer.
How does that compare with other private health checks?
Private health checks in the UK range from about £150 for a basic assessment to over £2,000 for the most detailed scans (Doctor Care Anywhere price guide, 2026). Prices differ mainly in how many tests are included and whether a doctor sees you.
Before booking anywhere, check whether a doctor examines you and explains the results, or whether you only receive a blood test report. At SABA, a GP sees you for 30 to 45 minutes and talks you through the results.

Can I get a health check free on the NHS?
Yes, if you're aged 40 to 74 and don't already have heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or a previous stroke, or take statins to lower cholesterol. The NHS Health Check is a free check of your heart and circulation, offered every 5 years. It includes your blood pressure, cholesterol, weight and waist, and takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Ask your NHS GP surgery if you haven't been invited.
A private check suits you if you're outside that age range, want a wider set of blood tests, want a GP to examine you, or don't want to wait for your invitation.
What can't a health check tell you?
A normal result is reassuring, but no health check can rule out every condition. If you notice a new symptom later, see a GP rather than waiting for your next check.
Keep going to NHS screening when you're invited, even if you've had a private check. This includes cervical screening, breast screening and the bowel screening home test.
How to book a health check at SABA
- Use the package finder or call reception on 01279 874388. The team confirms the right package and price before your visit.
- Don't eat for 8 to 10 hours before your blood tests. You can drink water.
- Your GP takes a history and examines you, and your blood samples are taken.
- Some scans, such as an ultrasound or mammogram, may be booked as a separate visit.
- Your GP explains your results and gives you a written report, with a plan for anything that needs attention. With your consent, we send a summary to your NHS GP.
Tip: Bring a list of any medicines you take and anything that runs in your family. It helps us decide which results matter most for you.
