• Keep the treated area clean and avoid unnecessary contact with your lips

• Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated area unless instructed to do so
• Avoid applying make-up to the lips for at least 12 hours
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours, as increased blood flow can worsen swelling
• Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it can increase the risk of bruising
• Avoid extreme heat, including saunas, steam rooms, and sunbeds, for 48 hours
• Avoid other facial treatments in the treated area until your clinician advises it is safe to do so

When should you see a doctor?

Mild swelling, tenderness, and bruising are expected. However, it is worth seeking medical advice if you notice any of the following.

• Pain that is severe or getting worse rather than improving
• Skin that turns pale, white, or mottled in or around the treated area
• Signs of infection, such as increasing redness, warmth, or discharge
• Any changes to your vision
• Swelling that continues to worsen after 48 hours rather than settling

Complications are rare, but according to the NHS, they can include infection, nerve damage, and in rare cases, vision problems. It is always worth contacting your practitioner or seeking urgent medical attention if something feels wrong.
