A highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with over 15 years’ experience at consultant level, with dual expertise in General Adult Psychiatry and Substance Misuse, supported by a strong record of clinical leadership, service development, education, training, and professional contribution.
He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of complex psychiatric presentations, including severe and enduring mental illness, comorbid substance misuse, dual-diagnosis presentations, risk management, and multidisciplinary care. This breadth of experience is complemented by a strong interest in developing innovative, evidence-based clinical services and improving access to high-quality psychiatric care.
A particular area of leadership has been the development and running of an ADHD clinical service in his NHS trust, including service set-up, clinical pathways, assessment and diagnostic processes, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary working. This experience demonstrates a strong ability to translate clinical need into effective and sustainable service provision.
Alongside clinical responsibilities, he has made a significant contribution to medical education and postgraduate training. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and has extensive experience in teaching, supervision, mentoring, and supporting the professional development of doctors and other healthcare professionals. He has also undertaken the role of College Tutor, demonstrating a commitment to supporting trainees and maintaining high standards of psychiatric education and training.
He has maintained a longstanding and active involvement with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, contributing to multiple College activities and professional initiatives including examinations. This reflects a sustained commitment to the wider development of the specialty, professional standards, education, and the advancement of psychiatric practice.
